Pat24Seven is one of Memphis’ own but is in another lane when it comes to his music. I know plenty of rappers in the Memphis,TN area and only can think of a hand full that have their own stlye; Pat24Seven is one of them. A guy with A LOT of tattoos but with so much to prove, check out the interview I did with him below (Questions/Answers).

Itsabstworld: Where did the name Pat24Seven come from and is there a meaning behind it?

Pat24Seven: There’s no super deep significance behind it or anything, I used to go by P.A.T. but I just wasn’t feeling it after about a year or so. PAT24Seven was supposed to just be my twitter name, but it kind of caught on and stuck! (Laughs) If anything, though, it means Pat all the time (24/7).

Itsabstworld: How long have you been rapping?

Pat24Seven: I’ve been interested in rapping for about 4 years but I’ve been pursing it as a career for almost a year now.

Itsabstworld: What made you decide to become a rapper?

Pat24Seven: I really don’t know. I know I love to entertain and I always have since I was young. I just tried rapping one day and I was kind of good, so I thought “Why not try it and see what happens”. I guess it was a good choice.

Itsabstworld: You’re kind of in a lane along with Skewby with your approach to music because it is totally different from most rappers in Memphis. What makes you take your own route instead of following the contagious drugs, sex, and etc. type of music, which actually sells for some?

Pat24Seven: Because I really don’t know anything about that stuff well drugs, gang, killing, etc. I would by no means say I’m always a “conscious/positive” rapper though; I’m just giving the people my idea of “cool”.

Itsabstworld: My favorite song from you is “I’m On,” produced by Memphis’ own Sweat da Trac. Can we look for anymore music from you produced by the duo, LC & Chiccen?
Pat24Seven: Oh yea!!! Those are my homies, even outside of the music. But LC produced a song called “will not lose” featuring my home girl (the super talented) Jozzy!!! It’s going to be CRAZY!!!!

Itsabstworld: I first saw you perform at the New Daisy on June 18, 2010 and I must say your show is a sight to see. I was more into the fact that your show setup is like you’re on tour. You’re getting the crowd involved and told a story with your music. How do you plan for a show as far as stage performance is concerned?

Pat24Seven: THANKS!!! (Smiling) That means a lot to me because I pride myself on my performance!!! But believe it or not, that particular show was planned like a couple hours before the show… just thought it would be a cool idea. I don’t know where it comes from though…I just get up there and GO!!!

Itsabstworld: Who are some people that inspire your music?

Pat24Seven: Uhhhh….that’s tough…(musically) I’d have to say Kanye, Michael Jackson, maybe…I think I’m more inspired by experience than any particular person though.

Itsabstworld: Name the top 5 artists that you can’t go a day without listening to?

Pat24Seven: Corrine Bailey Rae (my favorite singer), MJ, Kanye, Jeezy, I’m also a big Lloyd fan.

Itsabstworld: What’s the next thing we can expect from Pat24Seven; any new singles, Eps, or maybe an album?

Pat24Seven: Well next is “the $tudio.the $tage.the L!fe.” EP then I have a mixtape with DJ Young Breezye & DJ Prez!! There is A LOT more in the works, but I don’t want to say just yet. And also my next single is called “On Sum Other” featuring. Skewby and Pule; it’s going to be a BANGER!!!!

Itsabstworld: Do you have any upcoming shows/performances?

Pat24Seven: Some things in the works…You will be the first to know!!! Promise!!

Itsabstworld: Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

Pat24Seven: Grammys, world tours, acting, just all around successful…most importantly happy!!! *what’s the point of dreaming if you’re not going to go all out, right!*
